McKay Drilling is an industry-leading WA-based, operated drilling company located in Wangara. We are seeking applications for an exceptional HSEQ Advisor with experience in the mining industry.

Partner with Field Supervisors, other company personnel, and client representatives. You will implement company HSEQ performance improvement initiatives while working closely with clients and building a positive safety culture with the goal of providing a Zero Harm workplace.

The successful candidate will provide professional advice and hands-on support to the field operations concerning all HSEQ systems, processes, tools and risk-based programs.  As a key team member, you will work collaboratively with all of your stakeholders while continually analysing HSEQ performance data, identifying risks and offering improvement initiatives.

Selection Criteria 

An analytical thinker, you will demonstrate a professional approach while working under pressure, using your initiative to solve problems on the run and offering flexible and supportive coaching to your peers and stakeholders.  This role will suit an individual with tenacity, someone who requires little supervision and has strong time management skills and attention to detail. Experience in the implementation, maintenance and management of HSEQ systems and familiarity with the ISO Quality, OHS, and Environment standards would be highly regarded.

  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence;
  • Working knowledge of the WHS Act (WA);
  • ICAM Certificate (ideal);
  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience working in a similar role;
  • Knowledge of drilling operation National Police Clearance; 
  • Much be able to pass a McKay Drilling FCE Medical in addition to any legislatively required or based medicals and/or clearance. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that duty of care is exercised in all aspects of work activities;
  • Operate in line with the Company Management System Procedures and Company Policies;
  • Provide professional advice and hands-on support to field operations;
  • Ensure HSEQ systems, processes, tools and risk-based programs are effectively implemented;
  • Continually analyses HSEQ performance data, identify risk trends and improvement opportunities;
  • Assist employees in understanding and fulfilling their HSEQ role and responsibilities and regulatory compliance obligations;
  • Assist employees in understanding and fulfilling their HSEQ obligations under the McKay Integrated Management system;
  • Conduct investigations into HSEQ-related breaches and provide reports and recommendations;
  • Support line management to plan and build HSEQ management capability and leadership;
  • Provide resolution of HSEQ issues with employees and clients;

This is a FIFO role, ex-Perth on a two-week on, one-week off roster. You will be working 12-hour days based on both exploration and mine sites.
